Overview | Methanol is a colorless, flammable liquid with a slightly sweet, alcohol-like odor. It is the simplest alcohol, used extensively as a solvent, fuel, antifreeze, and a building block in chemical manufacturing. It is miscible with water and many organic solvents. Methanol is toxic: ingestion, inhalation, or skin absorption can cause blindness, central nervous system depression, or even death. |
Product Information
Methanol is a colorless, flammable liquid with a mild alcohol-like odor. It is widely used as a solvent, fuel, and chemical feedstock in industry and laboratories. Methanol is highly toxic—even small amounts can cause blindness or death if ingested, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin. It mixes completely with water and burns with a nearly invisible flame. Proper handling and ventilation are essential.
